FG extols Mbah for promoting food security in the state

The Federal Government has commended the Enugu State government for its efforts to ensure food security, reduce poverty and increase the state's Gross Domestic Product through agriculture.

The Executive Secretary of the Presidential Food System Coordinating Unit, PFSCU, Marion Moon, made the commendation on Tuesday when she led other top officials on a courtesy visit to the governor at the government house Enugu to inform him of the Official Flag off of Harvesting Hope Caravan in the state.

Moon, represented by Arch. Safiya Umar said the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit is a Nigerian body established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration under the Presidential Economic Coordinating Council to combat food insecurity, improve food availability, and lower food costs.

She noted that it functions as a high-level coordinating mechanism, bringing together federal, state, and local governments, the private sector, and development partners to align efforts and accelerate impactful interventions in the food and agriculture sector.

Responding, Governor Mbah, represented by his Deputy, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, commended the efforts of the PFSCU in strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural policies and reaffirmed Enugu's readiness to continue playing a leading role in food security and agro business development across the country.

The PFSCU works to transform policy commitments into tangible actions to build resilient and sustainable food systems in Nigeria.
