C orruption, Certificate Mentality Fuel Exam Malpractice – Education Expert Education expert, Jay Chukwuemeka, has identified corruption and the excessive quest for good grades to obtain certificates as major factors driving examination malpractice in Nigeria. Speaking on Sunrise FM’s live programme, Matters of the Moment, which focused on curtailing examination malpractice in the education sector, Chukwuemeka said the problem has deeply eaten into the system due to the general decay in the education sector. He noted that students, parents, and teachers all play roles in sustaining the menace, stressing that examination malpractice is a collective failure rather than the fault of a single group. According to him, examination bodies also have significant responsibilities, adding that the newly announced federal government policy on examinations will only be effective if properly implemented.
Chukwuemeka emphasized the need to eliminate all loopholes encountered during examinations, calling on the federal government to create a workable system that guarantees the independence of examination bodies and strengthens them to function effectively. Track up jay on exams malpractice
